Crashouts
Crashouts
Crashouts is a blind box series created as my senior thesis project. I designed the characters and made a fun, fairy-themed series, combining nostalgic love for magic with a modern escapist twist.
Client: Self
Role: Artist, Sculptor, Designer
Category: Character Design, Toy Design, Fabrication
Problem: Outside of designing characters, I had to figure out how these characters would exist in 3D, as well as how to create a brand. I’d never 3D printed my own artwork before, neither had I created a brand identity. It was all brand new to me.
Solution: I learned the workflow of multiple different 3D modeling programs, such as Blender, ZBrush, and even Nomad Sculpt for iPad. I got in contact with my school for assistance in getting the figures printed with resin, and I got assistance from others in how to create a cohesive brand identity. Overall, it was a project with a lot of firsts, and it was a wonderful attempt at toy design. I’d love to push it even further!
