Space Helmet

This was my first hard-surface 3D model! It was done for an assignment. I’m really really pleased with how it came out. I was able to play with some NPR filters for the first time, and felt like I was finally hitting my stride with zBrush.

The final sculpt had about 6.8 million active points.

Problem: Not only did I have to create a sci-fi helmet, a genre I’m not exactly used to, I also had to do hard surface modeling for the first time!

Solution: I went retro-futuristic, and used the Extract function in zBrush, alongside IMM brushes, and a couple curves! It was fun to learn how to make something like this.
